We did it, NYC! We survived both winter and spring, and summer is finally upon us. Whether you are planning a trip to an exotic island, road tripping down South or staying put in the Big Apple, it is important to begin thinking about summer fashions. This week, it is all about the classics. To put it bluntly, it is often too hot to get complicated in the summer. So, let’s take it back to the basics this week with this Fashionisto’s ensemble.
You can never go wrong with a T-shirt and jeans. Walking down the street, I see at least half the people I run into wearing a variation of this classic. This Fashionisto is no different. He takes a graphic T-shirt and pairs it with the classic denim shorts. While this may seem a little too simple for simple, let’s go a little deeper. This Fashionisto utilizes some subtle techniques to make himself stand out without having to try too hard. The first is through matching. An extremely neutral color palette is used. Instead of utilizing a multitude of colors, this Fashionisto tries out different shades of the same color. This creates a nice contrast without making too bold of a statement. Also, the bold graphic in the center of the shirt gathers the colors together and creates something interesting to look at. Adding a pop of color with the red shoes gives the look the cohesion it needs to be put together and finished.
Summer is a lot like a honeymoon. Great at first, but gets old quickly. As the humidity sets in and people begin lugging around their bags walking in slow motion, beware. When in doubt, turn to classics. You can’t go wrong with a white tank and blue jeans, or a graphic shirt and jean shorts. Keep it simple and chic, and you are good to go.
