STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Summer Hemline Gone Fall

What season do suede, browns, oranges and leather make you think of? Fall! Yes, that’s right, it’s that time of the year again, which means that it’s time to get out your fall clothes. But don’t fret, you can still pull off those mini skirts you’ve been wearing all summer, but in a variety of different colors and fabrics for fall.

Recently, I bumped into this Fashionista that modeled how to wear a trendy autumnal mini skirt. First of all, her mini skirt is a perfect example of one designed to be worn as weather becomes a little chillier because it is suede. To keep warm in the skirt, while still pulling off the illusion that she is wearing nothing else on her legs, she wore nude tights. Then, this Fashionista pulled her look together with a sweater, some leather Tory Burch riding boots and a York Buckle Tory Burch Tote. After, she finished off her look by layering a few necklaces. Altogether, the elements of this outfit created a masterpiece by reflecting the colors of the season and shades that perfectly complemented her hair and skin tones.

The mini skirt trend made an appearance multiple times in The Carven 2015 fall ready-to-wear collection in many different colors, shapes and hemlines. The skirts of the collection were a combination of styles that were boxy, buttoned, pastel-colored, navy, patterned, slit and ruffled. A few of the skirts were even worn with sweaters, making an autumnal statement like this Fashionista has done in her outfit.

After seeing this Fashionista wear the fall mini skirt look, I can’t wait to see more Marist students wear different variations of the fall mini skirt trend around campus as the weeks of the season resume.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to try to adapt a summer trend to the fall weather. Just do it in a smart way by layering enough on the other parts of your body so that you’re not cold.”
