STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Summer Blues, The Happy Kind

Blue is a mysteriously ambiguous color; it can be so calming (think light blue) yet so melancholy (think dark blue). My favorite wintertime blues goes to the band Jack’s Mannequin and their song with the catchy lyrics: “Dark blue, dark blue, have you ever been alone in a crowded room?” Blue is a color that has a sad connotation; however, the mood completely changes when you add a little green and brightness to it. All of a sudden, with the mixture of different colors, the mood of an initial lonely blue transforms to something more tropical that brings happy and relaxed vibes reminiscent of the summer! If you ever need a pick-me-up outfit on a cloudy day, go for some tropical colors. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue—you name it! Now that it’s super sunny outside, why not color coordinate your outfits with the vibrant blue skies and luscious greenery? Paint your nails and coat your lips with a coral red shade while you’re at it. There’s no better time to look and feel like the summer than in July!

This gorgeous Fashionista is wearing an optimistically color coordinated outfit. Her white Forever 21 romper and blue heels are beautifully paired with a Rebecca Minkoff bag, teal Aquaswiss sunglasses and a silver Michael Kors watch. As bright as her outfit turns out to be, the saying “you’re never fully dressed without a smile” is an important reminder to us all! Dressing well may increase your confidence, but to feel so much happier and brighter inside, you need to stretch your amazing facial muscles into an upward curve. Yes, that’s right. Smile!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Pure white with a glowing tan never fails, but most importantly, your smile is your best asset.”
