STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Styling in the Rain

January 18th, 2016 at 2:00am
Humidity and strong winds for many Fashionistas/os equal major discomfort. In the Northeast, we’ve been experiencing many light showers lately.
It can be very difficult getting dressed on a rainy day. Bad weather can be depressing and there are so many things you have to think about while getting ready. Starting with how you can style your hair (ugh, frizz can be so annoying), what type of shoes you can wear (without the pair getting ruined) and what material will be wearable for the day. Considering so many things can be a buzzkill; however, don’t let the weather literally rain on your fashion parade!
Start by adding color to your ensemble. This Fashionista was smart by sporting the burgundy baseball cap. The cap keeps her hair in place and easily eliminates the whole frizzy hair issue caused by humidity. The color block of her oversized varsity jacket complements her outfit very well. For rainy days it’s best to avoid suede, if you do wear the material you can protect your pieces by spraying water repellent. Along with the jacket, her thick vintage turtleneck serves well as a trendy piece but also as protection for the mild winds. Keeping it comfortable is key; do this by wearing a pair of comfy jeans and spunky low boots—preferably rubber.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Always keep a positive mind when dressing for bad weather. Because rainy days can make me feel uncomfortable I like to keep my outfits trendy but simple and comfy at the same time.”
