STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Stay Warm, Look RAD

Here in the Midwest, temperatures are falling, snow is accumulating and getting out of bed in the morning is becoming more of a chore than anything. Instead of asking ourselves what amazing outfit we’re putting together for the day, we’re asking ourselves: “how can I walk to class without freezing to death?” I, myself have trouble putting on anything other than my lazy girl outfit, aka sweatshirt and leggings. But I’m here to tell you that it’s possible to look RAD and stay warm all winter—and I have the perfect Fashionista to prove it!

The key to staying warm and looking cute is layering, simple as that. This Fashionista starts with a great coat, much like this one from Nordstrom. It’s simple, yet more fun than your average puffy parka. To add to any cold weather outfit you must make your accessories as functional as possible. For this outfit, she pulled together a cozy black infinity scarf, a white beanie and warm gloves to create a contrasting look against her black and white coat. The whole outfit screams winter style, and I’m assuming it’s even cozier than it looks—which is a win/win situation this winter.

Winter is also an exceptional time to wear leggings as pants for a few reasons. First off, they’re the easiest “pant” to put on in the chilly mornings. Secondly, they pair great with any parka/coat and always match your winter boots. Lastly, they keep you warm! Especially these thick leggings from lululemon. What more could you ask for?

Don’t be afraid to put on a few extra layers, bundle up and enjoy some fun in the snow!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “The key to staying warm and looking cute is wearing as many layers as possible. Start with a chunky knit, a trendy overcoat and finish with an over sized scarf. The more layers, the better!”
