It’s hot. I can’t breathe. Am I there yet? I need A/C. What do all these complaints have in common? They are my usual thoughts when walking on campus. To my misery, I only had been walking for two minutes. The Texas heat makes for a miserable Fashionista. However, we all have to make do while (of course) looking cute.
I spotted this Fashionista in the midst of finding shelter from the sun. She rocked an adorable cobalt blue maxi dress layered with a denim vest. It was the perfect summer outfit that screamed comfy, cute and casual. However, her jewelry is what caught my eye. While most people wear statement necklaces, this Fashionista wore pearl bow earrings. She described them as her go-to piece that adds that feminine touch. Although bold, anyone can pull off large studs. The trick is to not overwhelm your face by simplifying your makeup. This natural Fashionista pulled it off perfectly.
Likewise, her phenomenal silver rings made a bold impact that I would describe as super edgy yet sweet. Can anyone really have two many rings? The answer is no. Seen both on runways and commercially, rings have become the go-to accessory. Everyone has heard of the saying “It’s all in the layering;” but nobody would have guessed the layering would be on your hands. Balenciaga’s 2013 spring collection would agree it’s a thing now.
Honestly, I’m more of a hat girl. I’ve never really been attracted or attached to jewelry before. However, recently I’ve been inspired by the new Free People line and the HBO show Game of Thrones. Statement jewelry is expanding. Armlets, ear cuffs and edgy gold metallics are appearing everywhere. Needless to say, I am obsessed. Sometimes, I feel like a bohemian warrior goddess in a good way. How bold are you willing to go?
