I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; transitioning from winter to spring is probably one of the most difficult things a Fashionista has to do, especially when you’re on a budget. It would probably be easy if we could just go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, but that isn’t realistic.
Instead of buying completely new items, take what winter clothes you have and pair them with spring items to vamp up a whole new outfit. This Fashionista rocks an adorable outfit on a chilly and sunshiny day. I have two favorite pieces in this outfit, one is the velvet skirt and the second is her colorful belt. Both of these are great examples of what I mean by pairing winter and spring to match the weather.
The wine color of her velvet skirt can be a little deceiving. At first glance, it may seem that you can only wear it in winter because of the deep tone and the thick material but playing with pastels and fabrics will make this piece ‘any season ready.’ Try adding a tribal bralette to the skirt. The fun print will pair nicely with the wine color of the skirt and and the fact that it’s a tank top weighs evenly with the thick material of the skirt. Add on some gold accessories, like a necklace and a hairpiece, to make this look even more spring ready. Don’t forget your favorite sandals! Sam Edelman always makes the best sandals, like these black ones.
The second piece, the colorful belt, is incredibly versatile and incredibly important. It could go on with just about anything but using it for a pair of high-waisted pink denim shorts would probably be my favorite. It adds a nice spin on what’s becoming such a classic look. Since we’re going for classic here, throw on your white high top converse to really make this look retro. Since the rest of the look is simple and the belt is so fun, I would keep the top fairly simple as well. Try something with a cool back to spice things up a bit, like this simple-yet-edgy T-shirt.
Remember, just because the transition from winter to spring is rough, doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be! Good luck Fashionistas.
