STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Spring Style Specialist

Good news, Fashionistas! Spring is definitely right around the corner. It is important that you distinguish spring wear and summer wear. This is just about the time of the year when people get so excited about the warm weather that they whip out all of their summer things. Careful not to skip a season, Fashionistas. First is spring, then summer. So, if you want to wear your cute high-waisted shorts, that’s great, but why not pair them with patterned tights to make sure you look in-season? Don’t forget spring is the season for cool layering. Instead of just a tank top, take advantage of all your long cardigans and colorful jackets that can add a pop of color and depth to your outfit. When walking around campus, it’s always easier to take off layers than to be too cold. My advice to you is to not banish all your winter wear just yet; you still need some things for spring. Some basics from winter that can carry over to spring are plain, long sleeve tops that you can pair with a skirt or shorts, long pants that you can cuff at the bottom to add more of a spring look and light pattern scarves.

This Fashionista is a spring style specialist because she knows exactly how to dress for spring. She is wearing a mint green high-low dress with a cross back. This is a summer type of dress, but this Fashionista added to her look to make it appropriate for spring. She added an oversized sweater on top to add layers and keep her warm. She let the sweater hang off her shoulder to show off the layers. She paired it with boots, opposed to maybe flip flops or Vans, which would have been a summer look. This is a good example of how to wear clothes to experience the good weather but not skip a season.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love the warm weather but don’t take it too far. Short shorts and tank tops are not necessary at this point in the year. Save that for May.”
