I don’t know about you, but it’s beginning to feel like that time of the semester again. You know what time I’m talking about — the “summer is so close, yet so far away” time. We are all in the home stretch of this spring semester and summer’s lazy days and vacation getaways are definitely taking over my daydreams.
This “summeritis” is making an impact on the UT campus in many ways. but of course I’ve notice the fashion beginning to change. Just as the flowers are blooming again, so are the colors and shapes of spring fashion. I found this week’s Fashionista strolling campus on a beautiful day and couldn’t help but feel her hope for school’s end as well. Her short navy and white striped dress stood out the most to me. Stripes are trending big right now because there are endless ways to wear them. This Fashionista went for a more refined look by adding a white jacket and bold black accessories. Her Tory Burch sandals are comfortable and stylish and her mini Michael Kors tote is a perfect weekend bag. She finishes the look with classic gold jewelry that seals the deal making her ensemble perfectly polished.
It’s so easy to love everything about this simple spring look but I still have to say those stripes just speak to me. They bring an element of fun to any look by hiding right in the middle of solids and prints. If you’d like to try out an outfit similar to our Fashionista’s, go for this short striped mini dress and white denim jacket. Grab your favorite sandals and jewelry and hit the road. Now our Fashionista showed us great thin stripes but the best part about a striped look is the huge variety of stripes you can find. A bold stripe dress can also be really fun for a more dressed up night out. Pair this black and white striped ASOS number with clean black heels and a statement necklace. My personal favorite way to wear stripes this spring is by mixing them with other prints. Take this Ann Taylor LOFT top and Forever 21 floral skirt and you’ll take stripes to a whole new level. Pair this outfit with tan booties and a leather cross-body to top it off!
I could honestly go on for hours with outfit ideas for stripes. You can wear them on dresses, tops, skirts, shorts, jackets, shoes, handbags — oh my goodness, I’ll stop now! Just get creative and remember that if you need a little something to add a spark to your spring look, some fun stripes should do the trick! Now hold on tight these last handful of weeks in this semester and use fashion to bring the ever-tempting days of summer break into your spring wardrobe.
