STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Spring Rompers

Style Advice of the Week

Spring has officially sprung here in Bloomington, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Bare legs are finally coming out of hibernation and getting some much-needed sunlight for the first time since tailgate season.

This Fashionista looks cool and put together in this easy-going outfit. She wears a simple lightweight black romper; the perfect spring staple for when the weather warms up. In fact, any kind of romper is a great piece to have for the season. For one like hers, try this simple one from H&M. Bonus: it’s super cheap, too. Pair a thinner romper with a lightweight floral kimono for an easy summery vibe, or instead of a plain romper, try a floral, silky one like this from NASTY GAL.

She wears a denim jacket with the sleeves and hood in sweatshirt material. I love these renditions of the denim jacket; the sweatshirt makes the jacket more comfortable, but it still looks cute to wear to class or out on the weekend. For a jacket like hers, try one like this. I also love the denim jacket with leather sleeves for a little bit of a dressier look. This one is the perfect piece for both class and going out.

I’m also loving the floppy-boot look I’ve been seeing all over. Wearing them with shorts or dresses instead of pants makes the looser top even more flattering to your legs. They can toughen up a floral dress, or in this case romper, and add some edge to a lighter spring outfit. Try a pair like this stylish Fashionista’s but in black leather. These ones from Steve Madden are the perfect pair to wear with everything.

Despite her laid back vibe, this Fashionista doesn’t forget about her accessories. The tan and white leather fold-over bag is perfect for day-to-day wear. I love it when a pair of sunglasses can complete an entire look. This Fashionista’s Ray-Ban aviators top off the easygoing vibe of her outfit.

Now that it’s warmer, I love seeing lighter pieces like a romper under fall-like pieces like the jacket and boots. Mix up basics in lighter materials for perfect transitioning-to-spring outfits!
