STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Spring Into Pastels

Just a casual stroll through the heart of the University of Oregon campus tells me spring has officially arrived. Students are out and about as they soak up the sunshine. As we begin the final term of the year, we see more and more people out in their best spring wear. It’s the time to put away your dark colors and to spring into all of your best pastels. Pastels are a perfect way to brighten up your wardrobe and are without a doubt a necessity this spring and should not be overlooked in any Fashionista/o’s wardrobe. You can find pastels in all types of outfits as the varieties are only limited to one’s creative spirit.

This Fashionista secretly told me that she has always been very keen on an all-black wardrobe regardless of season, but after some convincing she decided to completely switch it up from head to toe… literally. I caught this Fashionista in one of my early favorites this season. A beautiful flowy off the shoulder floral top paired with a pair of slick light wash denim boyfriend jeans looked flawless. Focusing on the shirt, it is a light pastel lime with pastel pink flowers adding a little pattern and life to her outfit. This top was picked out from Princapessa located just steps away from the famous Venice Beach and is widely known as being a great place to find some great values and sometimes some outright steals. This Fashionista’s boyfriend jeans were purchased from Zara, an outstanding store for some awesome fashion-forward finds or some unique pieces to round out any outfit. She added a beaded pair of Sam Edelman sandals to round out this outfit, adding that perfect spring look.

And to top it all off, we can’t overlook her hair. Her beautiful pink color goes subtly with her outfit, and offers a very distinct and feminine look with multiple shades of pink. Pastels are officially the new black.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?: “Pair bright colored pieces with neutrals to make them stand out or if you’re feeling brave, go with a monochromatic look which is very in this spring!”
