STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Spring Forward

You know spring is approaching when March hits and it is warm enough to at least rain instead of snow. As the weather gets warmer, consider incorporating some color back into your wardrobe. Whether it is a colorful bag, statement necklace, scarf or a pair of jeans, a little pop of color in your outfit is the perfect way to gear up for the season ahead.

This Fashionista’s outfit is an especially good transitional look. While you may not be able to pull off coral or yellow pants yet, red pants are definitely acceptable for this time of year. They look great with a simple, neutral-colored pullover sweater. Add a trendy necklace to dress it up a little and a pair of fun rain or snow boots to help you navigate whatever kind of weather Chicago throws your way.

To get a similar look, check out these red Treasure&Bond cropped skinny jeans and this oatmeal sweater from Brandy Melville. If you don’t want to wear something as bold as red pants, jewel tones are always a good alternative. They work all year round and are a bit more subtle. I personally love an olive or a plum-colored jean.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I usually tend to gravitate towards neutrals—particularly creams and grays—but I’ve found that experimenting with bold colored pants has been a good way to add a pop of color to my outfit without going too far out of my comfort zone.”
