Winter term is wrapping up at Oregon State, which marks finals season. All-nighters, stressful study groups and the race to finish projects usually mean putting together a cute outfit is the last thing on our minds. While it’s totally okay to ditch the dress up in favor for comfy clothes, it’s probably better to keep the “just-rolled-out-of-bed” outfits down to a minimum. It’s Fashionistas like this one I came across this week that show that you still can be stylish while dressing down.
This week’s stylish undergrad paired this black The North Face puffer vest with a bright hoodie and yoga pants. She accessorized with a fluorescent yoga bag and brown boots. The result is a fun but casual outfit that can withstand even the longest days of class.
To pull together a similar outfit, focus on pieces that are comfortable, but still figure flattering. Sorry, your baggy sweatpants are strictly for lounging around the house! Black yoga pants are a great option and these from Lululemon are my absolute favorite. These from Aeriefit by American Eagle with neon trim are a fun way to incorporate some color. On top, I loved this fun combination of neon hoodie topped with a puffy vest. No doubt most Oregonians have their own version of the puffer vest, because it’s such a necessity in our fickle weather. Pair with your favorite flat boots instead of tennis shoes or Uggs to make your outfit even more put together. I loved the idea of patterned socks peeking slightly over boots, and I totally imagine these peeking over my own this week. As for a bag, one like this would be a perfect all-day carrier, and even has room for a yoga mat if you’re squeezing in a trip to the gym during your busy day.
Fashionistas, I know that lately your time has been spent pouring over class notes and textbooks, and focusing on what to wear is not exactly a top issue, but it’s still important to take a moment for yourself and put a second of thought into your outfits. A simple but well put-together ensemble can make all the difference in a day and you will thank yourself in the end — I promise!
