STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Something Borrowed and Something Blue

Style Advice of the Week

When I contemplate my most influential style icons, three people come to mind, my mom, sister and grandmother. Each one has such a unique and timeless style that can be found in everything they purchase. I love to borrow different accessories and pieces from their wardrobes because they feel so unique and special. There is something to be said for wearing things that have a history and story to them.

This Fashionista was decked out in vintage duds when I spotted her on campus. Each article of clothing not only had significance, but also culminated in an easy and chic look for class.  From her vintage jean jacket to her mom’s college backpack, this Fashionista proves that sometimes the most unique pieces can be found at flea markets or your attic.  Furthermore, the vintage feel is an affordable means of maintaining a closet and incorporating new articles of clothing without suffering from buyer’s remorse.

When recreating this look is it imperative to remember that you most likely have a lot of similar pieces that you can utilize. The core of this ensemble is a black legging, a jean button-down and black boots with a leather bag. All of these are basics you could pick up at any thrift store. That is what truly separates this Fashionista, the cut and style of her vintage pieces are not something that are sold by retailers or can be ordered online. Every aspect of this look is unique and singular, and a reflection of the Fashionista wearing it.
