STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sock It to Me

Fall weather (a.k.a. 75 degrees) is finally appearing in the sunshine state. A Florida fall typically entails wearing the exact same thing you would wear in summer, but maybe adding a cardigan, which is exactly what this Fashionista did. I spotted this Fashionista because I was instantly drawn in by her monochromatic layers, androgynous vibe and, of course, her socks.

I really love how this Fashionista is blurring the lines between what is traditionally masculine or feminine wear. I’m starting to think that there might not be a line at all.

The best part about this look is by far the hidden flare she has in her socks. This outfit is very minimal and polished and I love how when looking at the right angle, you can see her starry night socks. This Fashionista is able to look professional and refined without losing any character whatsoever. It’s proof that a monochrome look does not equal a monochrome personality.

Rocking a monochromatic look is rather intimidating, but what keeps a one-colored look interesting is playing with tones and texture. The juxtaposition of the pastel blue shirt and navy blue pants make this outfit look extremely put together, and the cardigan over provides a layer of texture and surprise while also giving that coziness of fall we have all been yearning for.

Be adventurous and dive into styles that rock both a feminine and masculine vibe, and keep your coloring simple and easy!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to spice up a monochrome look with something as simple as crazy socks. I wear them almost everyday and it is a small way to express my character.”
