Who says hats are only for boys? This summer, the Chicago rap scene has been ablaze with success. Underground rappers are really making their mark not only on Chicago music, but Chicago fashion as well. As I check off another concert for the summer, most recently was Lollapalooza, I find my snapback collection growing more and more. Before, snapbacks were only worn by athletes or the coolest guys around but now it’s time for the girls to claim this trend for our own.
This week’s Fashionista is looking urban chic with her printed snapback. I love the fact that the hat has pink flamingos on it, giving the piece that extra kick of femme.
Oftentimes, girls in hats can simply look like they are trying to hide underneath the brim, but wearing the hat backwards shows off your face and, in my opinion, looks ten times cooler.
One thing that puts snapbacks on my list of fave fashion items is its versatility. You can pair a snapback with almost anything to give your outfit a street style feel! Even dresses aren’t off limits for these hats. Our Fashionista paired the hat with this summer’s favorite high-waisted shorts. Although we are all more than familiar with these denim babies, Fashionistas/os are still constantly on the hunt for the perfect pair. Unfortunately, some stores sell them for high prices and making your own doesn’t ever seem to come out the same way. But our Fashionista got lucky and found a real gem. The shorts look cool and fit perfectly!
I love the gray crop top with this outfit. The color matches the gray in the focal piece and makes the outfit casual, cool and cute.
My style advice of the week is to get a snapback and start experimenting!
