STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Slouchy And Sophisticated

If you’re anything like me, you search for comfortable style wherever you can find it. I mean, the baggier the tops and the less restricting the pants the better. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees that this type of outfit is acceptable for public viewing pleasure (I know, I think they are crazy, too!). But worry no more, because I’m here to tell you that there is a way to rock all your baggy faves and still look just as polished and put together as ever.

The baggy clothes trend can be worn in a multitude of ways, but some of my favorites are oversized tops and baggy bottoms. Now, baggy bottoms may sound unflattering and super undesirable, but boyfriend jeans can actually be one of the most flattering fits on many different sized people. Plus, if you want to balance the outfit out to show that you do in fact have some shape under that baggy fabric you can wear a tighter fitting top! Of course this same idea is true in the reverse, if you love baggy tops pair your favorite skinny jeans or jeggings for a flatting combination. This style is so versatile that it works for almost every occasion from class, running errands, to lunch with the family on the weekend.

If you haven’t heard, spring is taking its sweet time arriving in the Midwest, so we have to get creative with our warm weather wardrobes. This Fashionista has the right idea by keeping comfy for daily activities and warm but not too covered up for the chill of the current season. She mixes layering and baggy items for an eye-catching outfit. Picking a fun-patterned spring tank top and throwing on a basic, baggy T-shirt overtop adds dimension and versatility into your outfit. If the weather gets warmer throughout the day, you can always ditch the T-shirt and show off your adorable tank!

The destructed baggy black pants are a comfortable and slightly grungy, edgier style option. Paired with the oversized T-shirt, this Fashionista exudes comfort while looking completely put together. To complete the outfit, she wore some basic black booties with quilted details and some delicate gold jewelry. The simple accessories take the sophistication of this edgy outfit to a whole new level.

So, next time someone tells you that you can’t dress slouchy and sophisticated, put together an outfit that incorporates these ideas. You are sure to shock them with your style expertise!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When in doubt, overdress. There is nothing worse than being underdressed and no harm in looking pulled together!”
