Style Advice of the Week

Don’t let all-black looks steal the show and take over your closet. As the weather gets warmer, this season is all about the all-white ensemble. Forget the all-white beach look stigma; this look can be as fierce and sophisticated as everything black.

There are many ways to pull off an all-white look. Incorporating shades of beige and taupe or accessorizing with bold colorful accessories are common ways to add depth to the monochromatic look, but this is all about taking the look full on.  This Fashionista embraces the all-white look by sticking with the same white hue and minimizing jewelry. She keeps her look simple and basic with a white cotton tank top tucked into white high-waisted shorts and layered with a linen white button-down. To add dimension to her look, she plays with different sizes and fabrics. For her base layers, she sticks with fits that are slimmer to her body and selects shorts that accentuate her waist. In contrast, her button-down is slightly baggy and she leaves it hanging open to give her look some shape. Further, the linen, cotton and white denim give the look some texture.

She completes her look with taupe booties and accessorizes with a simple House of Harlow necklace, similar to this one, and three David Yurman bracelets. When wearing neutral colors, bold jewelry can steal the show and take over your look. Sticking with a dainty gold and silver necklace and three silver bracelets brings a little bling to the outfit without shifting focus from the white.

This spring go for the bold. Warmer weather means less layers so when you are trying for a new look or monochromatic ensemble, go all in.
