STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Scarf It Down

I have personally never been a scarf kind of girl. While they are so pretty and colorful, I never really found a way to fit them into my wardrobe. Every time I tried to tie one around my neck or wrist, I always felt like the outfit would look better if I just took the scarf off.

Then I came to Italy. Suddenly, everyone, both men and women, were wearing scarves. I started to see them as less of an added accessory and more of an outfit staple. Italians incorporate all types of scarves into their outfits and you would be hard pressed to see a person on the street not wearing one, especially now that the weather has dipped below 70 degrees.

I came across this Fashionista who took a different approach to wearing a scarf. Rather than the obvious placement around her neck, she chose to wrap it around her head and wear it as a headband. This was a look I could get behind.

A scarf worn like a headband can give anyone the Studio 54 retro babe look. This Fashionista decided to play that up with some winged eyeliner that was absolutely on point. She keeps her outfit simple and lets her colorful scarf do the talking. Over a black T-shirt, she throws on an effortlessly cool leather jacket to toughen up her look.

Her black jeans are classic and fit perfectly into her all-black theme. She the adds a pair of brown ankle boots with a stacked heel, which are perfect for walking down those sprained-ankle-inducing cobblestone roads of Florence. Her simple yet chic outfit puts her scarf on display in the best way possible.
