Style Advice of the Week

Snowy weather can be great. You can go sledding, drink hot cocoa by the fire and everything looks like a winter wonderland. But once the temperature rises, that snow unfortunately turns to slush—a nightmare for every footwear enthusiast. Luckily, this week’s Fashionista seems to have found a stylish way to endure the dreaded snow melt: rain boots. I admit, I have been a little skeptical about rain boots in the past, but this Fashionista’s black rain boots are totally chic, wonderfully styled and not to mention utterly slush-proof.

This Fashionista wears a cream and black long sleeve blouse, which is tucked into a high-waisted black skirt. These two pieces together add a feminine touch to the outfit and soften up her look. Adding a pop of color (and warmth), she wears a pair of red tights. Tights are essential for braving the cold in style, and a wonderful way to add some interest to an outfit. Lastly, this Fashionista accessorizes with a silver pendant necklace and finishes the look off with her gorgeous black rain boots.

When looking for a stylish pair of rain boots like the ones this Fashionista sports, I recommend to look out for three things. Number one: sizing. Make sure that your feet fit well inside your boots and that they aren’t too big. If they have a narrower sole they will look trendier, but will still be amazingly weather resistant. Number two: neutral colors. Of course, patterned and colored rain boots are extremely fun, and by all means, continue wearing them! But if you want to achieve a more sophisticated and stylish look, try looking out for a black, brown or nude pair of rain boots to add to your wardrobe. And lastly, number three: detail. Buckles and/or zippers add wonderful detailing to rain boots; these additions make a huge difference in the overall look of the boots.

This week’s Fashionista is proof that saying hello to slush does not mean saying goodbye to style. In fact, adding rain boots to your wardrobe could be a chance to look fashionable…and jump in a puddle or two.
