STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Raincoat To The Rescue

April 28th, 2015 at 2:10am

Everybody knows that April showers bring May flowers, but sometimes that rain starts to take its toll in the month of April. Every student who makes those huge treks across campus needs a handy dandy raincoat. Michigan State is well known for those 30-minute walks to class and sometimes a parka just isn’t cutting it. It has become almost necessary to have multiple coats for various weather forecasts in your repertoire. Raincoats are not an exception to this rule, and it wouldn’t be frowned upon to have a couple of rainy weather outerwear choices.

When picking out a raincoat, it is typically necessary to spend a few extra bucks on the better water resistant fabric. Some stores are going to have raincoat look alikes without the actual protection and only the style. It is also a good idea to opt for the netting interior to allow for the coat to be more breathable in the muggy April weather that we have been experiencing. In the end, once you make sure you have chosen the best material inside and out, it’s time to choose the perfect color or pattern for your personal style. Don’t forget to choose a coat that has a trusty hood as well in case you forget your umbrella.

This Fashionista was feeling flirty and bubbly with her polka-dot raincoat choice but still kept it subtle with the navy blue shade. The Dr. Martens were an excellent choice especially for those campus puddles. The all-black jeans and T-shirt flatter her figure and complement the navy blue and white of the raincoat. Her outfit is completely April showers foolproof from head to toe.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “You always need to dress for the occasion, especially based off of the weather forecast. I never pick out on outfit before I check what the weather is going to be like for the day.”
