STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Queen Of The Layer

How is it already February? I can still barely believe it’s 2016 let alone February. We are one month into the spring semester and I don’t know about you but I’m already downing about five coffees a day. I do that to partly keep warm during the chilling walk and partly to stay awake in the nightmare called an 8:15 a.m. class.

Unfortunately, it is still technically winter, but sometimes when Mother Nature is feeling kind she’ll give us a beautiful spring day that gives everyone that extra mood booster we all need. When we are majorly confused with the weather patterns is when layers come into play. Layering is a key aspect to knowing fashion, as well as comfort, especially on those in between season days.

This Fashionista is a layering queen. This particular day was one of those days where the sun was warm but the wind was chilly. This Fashionista wore a basic striped tank dress; one like you would wear in the summer but never thought to wear in the winter—pretty smart, right? In order to stay warm she added some tights and a comfy sweater, which added a whole new dimension to her outfit. The sweater not only had slit detailing on the sides but the classic turtleneck gave the outfit a little bit of zest and a trendy touch. To spice up the outfit she added an adorable tan hat which gives the outfit a bit of a boho-chic feel.

It’s easy, especially at this time of the semester, to slack off with your outfits in the mornings because you want to just stay warm. Remember to keep pressing on, and in order to feel your best you should always strive to look your best. The extra 10 minutes in the morning are so worth it.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “In order to make an outfit your own you have to be able to put your own taste into the outfit. Combine pieces that others might not think of in order to create your personal style.”
