STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Print All About It

When it comes time to sit down and plan what I want to write about for an article, I try to think about what really inspires me. To some, clothing is merely what we put on our bodies to complete our everyday life tasks. To others, clothing is art. It is an expression of who we are and how we want to be perceived by the people and world we live in. Author Charles Bukowsi said, “Style is the answer to everything. A fresh way to approach a dull or dangerous thing. To do a dull thing with style is preferable to doing a dangerous thing without style. To do a dangerous thing with style is what I call art.” Now I am not saying that we begin to do dangerous things in our spare time but I am saying that there is never any harm in taking a risk with how you dress.

With any risk in fashion, you need confidence to back it up. Confidence is the key to making any outfit successful because with it, you show the world that you are proud with who you are and what you represent. Understandably, that confidence can be hard to come across sometimes. It is always refreshing when you come across a Fashionista/o who epitomizes how truly awesome they are. And that is exactly how I felt when I came across this Fashionisto!

A bold print can be terrifying. It can look busy or off but when it works it works. This stylish Fashionisto chose to go with a button-down shirt with a Hawaiian print a la Tyler Durden from Fight Club. Bold prints are great especially in shirts because you can pair them with anything. They are casual enough to wear when you are lounging but you can dress them up with a blazer for a cool twist on sophistication. The light weight material for the shirt is also good for summer when the heat is at its worst. Do not be afraid to experiment with a pattern! Just be sure to pair it with neutral bottoms to not look overdone. Of course, there is nothing wrong with putting pattern on pattern! In that case, find patterns that complement each other.

This Fashionisto paired his cool printed shirt with a pair of black jeans and red sneakers. I personally like the look of the printed shirt with black jeans because it looks sleeker and it makes the shirt pop that much more. The red sneakers add a fun and unexpected pop of color. No matter the dull task, in an outfit like this you can accomplish anything!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I’d like to think my style reflects a balance of formal and a bit of wild sentiment. I enjoy clothes with collars and buttons as long as they have some wild flash or wild style to them. I like the type of clothes that make you stand out.”
