STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Pretty In Prints

We have finally made it to shorts season here in Illinois and I could not be any more excited. Many of us have concluded yet another successful year here at Illinois State, and while I am still processing my newly senior status, I am so ready for the fun that the summer months bring. I am looking forward to all of the transitioning that my closet will be undergoing; switching to more lighter and bohemian-inspired pieces that have summer written all over them. In the next few weeks, I am really hoping to add a few fun garments that will make some of my more simple-styled looks stand out. This Fashionista inspired me to look for some printed pieces, like her shorts, that will keep my outfit casual but also give it a quirky twist.

This Fashionista’s ensemble screamed summer and all of the carefree feelings it encompasses. I saw her outfit from across the quad and knew I had to feature her laid-back finals look, primarily focused on her black and white printed shorts. The cool Aztec pattern really caught my eye and was ultimately well with her black tank top. Her printed shorts not only look super chic, but also give her outfit a level of comfort that is perfect for a busy finals afternoon. Since summer mornings can prove to be a little more on the chillier side, this Fashionista is prepared with her chic chambray top that can easily be removed when the noontime rays roll around. Her accessories added a dimension of fun to her outfit. The orange hue in her sandals was a perfect choice for popping against her black and white shorts. The backpack she sported really captured her summer-inspired look and gave her outfit a bit of a bohemian flair.

Printed shorts are proving to be a summer essential for all of the Fashionistas that like to stick to a simpler ensemble. I am definitely going to expand my horizons and try out some printed shorts in my wardrobe to add a fun twist to my usual subdued style.
