STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Playing with Pastels

Spring has truly sprung! The beginning of May signifies lots of things: many college campus’ final days, Cinco de Mayo and dreaded spring cleaning. Most importantly, it marks the dismissal of the remaining winter wind and the arrival of the warm sunny days. I once learned of something called the “Look Good, Feel Good Phenomenon,” and it could not be more accurate and true. To break it down, when the weather is nice, you feel good, and when you feel good, you’re more motivated to look good. It has been proven when you dress nicely, your self esteem is improved greatly (as if you Fashionistas/os need more of a reason to dress nicely!). This Fashionisto definitely knew of this phenomenon, for his happiness was contagious and spring style was a direct reflection!

What immediately attracted me about this student was his shirt. To go hand in hand with the brightness of the spring sun, this Fashionisto rocked a pastel purple and white checkered button-down. Rolling the sleeves up of any shirt gives an immediate relaxed, casual look—perfect for springtime. Button-downs are becoming more and more popular among females now, too! What better time to try out a new trend than a new season, ladies?

To follow up on his cool color toned outfit, this Fashionisto wore a pair of dark navy khaki shorts. Common among college-aged men, the blue was a bit of a switch-up from the traditional beige, which I enjoyed a lot! Another popular item was this student’s Sperry Top-Siders. Available for both men and women, these shoes are pretty much a staple piece around campus!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “The outfit is all about the shoes. You can wear a great shirt and pair of pants, but the main focus is within the kicks.”
