The weather here in Happy Valley has slowly transitioned into a slight chill this past week. The leaves aren’t exactly turning into various shades of red and yellow yet, but our outfits have definitely grown bulkier to avoid the almost inevitable colds that seem to intrude every time the seasons change. As a tropical weather native, I have a difficult time succumbing to dress for the cold. I simply don’t possess much knowledge on how to dress in cold weather fashion, which frustrates me. I decided to take my weekly “style-stalking” walks as an opportunity to observe how others dress for the cold, and to look for the one Fashionista that exemplifies the best of chic autumn style.
This Fashionista caught my eye with her interesting take on mixing and matching prints. She pairs a bulky plaid cardigan with a collared blue dress, which, on a closer look, has a shark pattern all over it! Who knew plaid and shark print would make such an interesting match? This unique combination with two completely yet distinctive patterns blend well through their similar navy color schemes.
Playing with patterns calls for shoes that are more low key. This Fashionista wears a pair of suede lace booties in black, which draws your attention to her mix match of an outfit. Her black thigh-high tights also allows her unique outfit to stand out.
Quite often, the cold weather fall and winter brings makes us forget to style up our outfits as we focus more on keeping ourselves warm. This Fashionista features a creative way to spice up fall fashion. When it comes to matching different prints together, it is usually associated with bright colors, but this Fashionista utilizes dark colors—perfect for autumn.
