Style Advice of the Week

Polka-dot pattern is a trend that sneaks into fashion every few years. This year the polka-dots are big, bold and beautiful. They take on a new graphic look and can be seen all throughout the spring 2014 runway including names such as Dolce&Gabbana, Sportmax and Burberry. Polka-dots are not only on the runway but sneaking their way into celebrities closets all over the nation. Celebrities such as Taylor Swift wears this pattern in a shirt dress designed by Zooey Deschanel and Kate Middleton, wears it in a blue empire waist dress after the birth of Prince George. Beloved by many ages, polka-dots are a classic vintage look straight from the ’50s that can also be easily modified for our decade. Our Fashionista perfectly shows off this runway trend.

Proving this trend can’t only be seen on a dress, our Fashionista wears this trend in a simple preppy sweater. This Fashionista pairs her chic navy polka-dot trend sweater with lightly heather gray jeans, keeping the outfit casual. Adding her own twist, the Fashionista puts her outfit with high-top olive green sneakers rolled over and pulls it together with gold metal elephant earrings. Her outfit could easily be dress up by a few quick transformations. Switching her heather gray jeans with a simple cotton skirt and adding a pair of heels would make the perfect outfit for a girls night out or a dinner date.

The options of how to pull polka-dots into your wardrobe is endless. Our Fashionista chose to display this style in a classic knit blend sweater. Gwen Stefani incorporates this trend with an umbrella for shade against the sun while Mischa Barton shows her polka-dots in a blazer for a more professional look. You can, too, this spring!
