Style Advice of the Week

It’s a new year and the beginning of the spring semester. This is the time to show off every piece of clothing and every dream accessory that you were given or bought during the holidays. As the students start to return to their home away from home, they will come to know that there is no such thing as winter here in Tucson. It’s always the perfect weather for light sweaters and flip flops.

This week, I met a Fashionista as I was walking around a barren campus and she completely changed my opinion on plaid. I’m actually not a fan of plaid because of the fear of looking like a farmer, but she made me rethink my opinion. Like a genius, she paired the plaid with a denim jacket, some black leggings and black combat boots; I wanted to steal the look right off of her. She did not look like a farmer but like a true CollegeFashionista. Also, props to her for not taking the denim and making it a pair of jeans or overalls. I loved the simplicity. Can we also talk about those combat boots? You are sure to never see that on a farm but they were the perfect touch and super edgy. So my STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK is wear plaid but play it up! Wear it with an awesome denim jacket or some edgy combat boots.

Do you want to rock this look? All you need is a plaid button-down (long sleeved or short sleeved), a denim jacket, a comfy pair of black leggings and some super edgy combat boots.

So, happy spring semester to my fellow Wildcats; don’t be afraid to try plaid but definitely play it up!
