It’s that time of year again. The “Armpit of the South” or “Famously Hot City” of Columbia, S.C. is beginning to cool off. The humidity has decided to give us a break—my hair could not say thank you enough—and the anticipation of fall weather has finally been met. Although fall is a wonderful time of year, this is also the season where girls on campus put away their Nike shorts and replace them with the oh-so-fashionable (yes, this is sarcastic) yoga pants or leggings. The transition into fall fashion should get you excited to wear layers and break out your long-sleeved tops. It should not get you pumped to wear yet another form of workout clothing.
This Fashionista shows us a perfect example of what to wear when the weather has gone from scorching hot to wonderfully cool. It is still warm enough to be able to wear shorts, so ladies embrace it while you can. Her patterned shorts make the outfit interesting and fun, but they also are comfortable and practical for a long day of classes. Although it isn’t quite cold enough yet, these shorts will be great in these next coming months with a pair of tights. It’s important to be able to tell you have fun with fashion. Adding bold prints to an ensemble is an easy way to spice up any look.
She completes her outfit with a light-washed chambray shirt over top of an intricate white blouse, a pair of Converse sneakers and a cross-body purse. Her outfit is ideal for the beginning of fall because she has layers. Lately, it has become extremely cool in the mornings but temperatures will rise tremendously by the middle of the day. Layering pieces not only gives off a laid back vibe, it also is extremely practical.
This week, I challenge you to put away those black leggings (that, by the way, are not pants). Choose a pair of patterned shorts or pants that are attention grabbing.
