STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Pattern Play

While I do see stylish gents out and about in the Twin Cities, they are few and far between. Minnesota is by no means a mecca for men’s fashion. I love seeing guys, in particular, break out of the realm of chinos and boat shoes and get adventurous with their fashion choices. Naturally, I was stoked to see this Fashionisto.

His look boarders between indie musician and street skater. On top he is wearing a purple, white and mauve splatter print shirt from Wesc. The almost-Rorschach pattern evokes the perfect mix of quirkiness and edginess. This short-sleeved style collared shirt is definitely on trend for men this summer. Boys, to pull off the look, I recommend going for a slim fit shirt and leave it untucked for a laid back vibe. Check out H&M’s summer collection for some great options!

On bottom, the Fashionisto is rocking a pair of olive green jogger pants by Rook. The deep forest tone plays well off of the bold colors in the shirt. The tapered pants feel a bit military with their cargo pockets and heavy stitching, but the cinched ankles make them very fashion forward. Marc By Marc Jacobs has a strikingly similar pair if you’re looking to recreate the look.

To complete the look, he is wearing a pair of white leather shoes by Supra. Developed in California, the shoes meld skateboarding and street style. Here is a pair of white canvas kicks from Supra that I think will do the trick.
