STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Parkas

With the cold weather sticking around, it is vital to invest in a warm winter coat. From walking to class, blizzards and subzero temperatures, everyone needs a coat that will do the job and keep you warm.

Walking around college campuses in the winter, I’m sure you’ll see clones of girls all wearing their black parkas. I, too, am guilty of the black parka. However, this Fashionista has done something a little different and has a brown parka with a faux fur hood.

There are so many different styles and colors of parkas out there—you no longer have to stick to your plain black one. With a cinched waist in the back, faux fur on the hood and some extra winter accessories, this Fashionista stands out in the sea of black parkas.

The simple cinched waist in the back helps to give shape to the very poofy jacket and accentuates the waist. The faux fur is not only warm but also fabulous, which gives the coat a little extra something.

When the temperatures subzero, you have to be practical. Walking to class would be miserable in a fleece jacket. Parkas are not only a winter necessity because of their warmth, but they also come in a variety of styles, colors and lengths, making them a must-have fashion item. It’s like walking around campus wrapped in a sleeping bag. It can’t get comfier than that.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Bundle up, and don’t forget a cute scarf because your neck will get cold walking to class.”
