STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: On Point with Off-the-Shoulder

Summer days spent sailing on the Cape in vintage Tommy Hilfiger followed by nightly midnight swims are sadly coming to an end.

However, as the season of breezy and bohemian fashion closes, we can all take away a few of the same lessons. Trends like chokers, off-the-shoulder tops and denim overalls (that you love to hate but still wear anyway) are not going away anytime soon. These trends are some of the best and most memorable of 2016 and can really make a statement if you’re struggling to create the perfect look for a final summer BBQ.  Here’s how you can style an off-the-shoulder top one last time, in a way that embodies the true essence of summer.

This month’s Fashionista sports the off-the-shoulder trend in a unique way! The almost all white ensemble gives the look a certain elegance and beauty. Her top is adorned with light blue and green flowers that allow a simple pop of color, while the cinched wrists give the top a more full and flowy appearance. Also, long sleeves are a perfect way to transition into those chilly September nights while still showing off your summer tan.

To complete the look, this Fashionista wore white jeans which add a classic summer feel to the outfit. Summer is a great time to experiment with different colors but sticking to a neutral shade, like white, makes the outfit look fresh and timeless. This Fashionista finished off the look with a pair of nude wedges that are easy to walk in but also elongate her legs.

Finally, her simple gold necklace adds sparkle to the outfit while still allowing the off-the-shoulder top to remain the focus.

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “The trends for this summer have been some of my favorite, especially off-the-shoulder tops. But I love making them my own by incorporating them into an all-white outfit. It’s the perfect way to finish off the summer.”
