As the last weeks of July begin to come to a close, you can’t help but think about the ominous thoughts of another fall semester just around the corner. If you’re like me, excitement and eagerness are the two main emotions going through your head as the weeks begin winding down. Being able to see friends, moving into a house and, above all, going to school for the major I love are all part of my college experience, and I’m loving every minute of it. As for the start of a new semester, making a statement is all but optional.
When it comes to a new school year, you have two categories of people. The first being the students who dress to impress. They are starting their new year off with a bang and want that first day to be a good one. Those students are the ones who maybe dressed in that all-white sundress with a black sunhat and heart-shaped sunglasses with a large iced Starbucks coffee in their hand and bright coral lipstick on their lips. The other category includes the people dressed in sports apparel, which will most likely be majority of the student body come August 24.
This Fashionista has chosen a dress to impress kind of day, and she wears it very nicely, with a paisley, white Peter Pan collar and denim dress underneath an olive tied shirt that comes down to the top of her waist. She pairs the ensemble with a mint colored cross-body purse, espadrilles and the just the right amount of jewelry. To give it a more summery appeal because the season isn’t over just quite yet, this Fashionista added a flower crown to give her outfit a nice flirty appeal.
It’s become a classy-chic statement item and you can wear it really anyway to want because it is such a versatile trend. You can dress it down or up on any scale and make it completely yours. I love how she paired the olive with the denim and how the pink ends of her hair come into play and almost give it a sweet yet edgy touch to the whole ensemble.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like to mix things up when I’m getting ready. I love putting a shirt over a dress to give it a more relaxed look. I feel it’s most appropriate for those long school days when you want to look chic but also want to soften the look a bit.”
