Throughout my exploration of New York City this summer, I have fancied myself the Jane Goodall of the city. I am constantly observing New Yorkers habits to analyze and write down and try to understand what it is that makes them so unique. Amidst my observations, I have come to the conclusion that: New Yorkers own amazing trench coats, New Yorkers would rather risk getting run over then waiting for the light to turn, New Yorkers can sleep while standing up (they really can!) and New Yorkers know how to pull off casual chic. Which is where this Fashionista comes in.
In concurrence with the city she resides, this Fashionista has personified best what it means to be a New Yorker in the summer: casual, chic, comfortable and able to withstand the strong heat and humidity. Using black (a classic New York staple)v this Fashionista transformed a pair of overalls into a chic statement piece. Never had I imagined that a piece of clothing usually reserved to toddler and carpenters could be so covetable. Her combination of silver jewelry with woven loafers prove that with the right pair of accesories and fit, any item can be made to look amazing. How New York!
Take a cue from her and purchase your own pair of overalls. Make sure the fit is proper because overalls walk the line from dorky to awesome. This pair from Adriano Goldschmied is a fantastic choice due to the wash and cut. Every girl has probably jumped on the smoking slipper band wagon trend. If you are like me and cannot put the loafer down, fear not. There is the woven alternative which fills our summer needs. I am obsessed with these from Jeffrey Campbell.
For now, I continue observing all the fabulousness New York has to offer and will continue to show what I have learned from them.
