STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Offbeat Minimalism

As we are currently in the midst of spring, many of us have broken out the floral prints and brightly colored clothing. While crazy colorful pieces are some of our go-to items, some days just call for a more minimalist look. This can be achieved by wearing solids, like a refreshing pastel pink. I found a Fashionista sporting a ballet slipper pink jacket who achieved an easy yet extremely chic look.

She started off with some simple layers. Cuffed distressed boyfriend jeans and a classic white button-down appeared casual, yet extremely put together the way she paired them.

The Fashionista topped her look off with her pristine pink jacket. Its lightweight rayon material made it the perfect addition for these slightly chilly spring days. It is also the perfect layering piece for the notorious temperature changes in Philadelphia University buildings.

To polish everything off, she sported a pair of black strappy flatforms. These shoes, although seemingly pointless to some people, are the perfect way to give yourself a few extra inches while providing more support than traditional flat sandals. The Fashionista even said that these shoes were extremely comfortable.

The final element of her look was a metal necklace comprised of a unique assortment of leaves in copper tones. It helped tie together the rest of the outfit and added a professional yet stylish feel.

Overall, this Fashionista achieved a vibe that was somewhat androgynous and offbeat, yet still polished and chic. She managed to layer basic pieces and made them appear effortlessly cool.

Get this Fashionista’s look with a long pastel jacket, a white button-down and some boyfriend jeans. Just don’t forget to amp up the look with some of your favorite accessories.
