With a few cold spells here and there, it seems like the warm weather is finally here to stay at Bucknell. Even though the thermometer is slowly rising, I’m finding myself not ready to step out of my pants into shorts. In fact, when summer comes, I never ditch my favorite jeans. Whether it is below freezing or breaking 100 degrees, I am always looking for great ways to wear my jeans all year-round.
This Fashionista pulled off a perfect spring outfit by cuffing her light-washed jeans, which though amazing year-round, really brighten an outfit for the warmer seasons. The best part about them is how they get better with age. Natural fading in light wash makes the jeans look unique without looking old. By cuffing her jeans, this Fashionista was able to make her J.Crew black booties appropriate for summer. Wearing cuffed jeans is one of my personal favorite trends because it helps take your best winter pieces into summer. This is a look many that fashion icons, such as Rachel Bilson, turn to.
Another thing this Fashionista did so well was layering a green mesh rag & bone long sleeve shirt over a lace cami. Mixing mesh and lace may seem like an unlikely combo, but done correctly can give an outfit extra flair. Our Fashionista let just the bottom of the lace cami peak through adding a flirty effect to the outfit. Olive green is a great earth tone neutral that will never be out of season. Pairing it with the black gave the outfit more some edge.
By collecting keepsakes from abroad, this Fashionista layered a Marc Jacobs watch with some of her favorite jewelry from her travels. This is a great way to add your own personal experiences into an outfit. Not only that, but they make for a great conversation starter.
Don’t be afraid to wear your favorite jeans this summer. As the weather gets even hotter feel free to swap out the booties with your favorite sandals, all while keeping your pants cuffed. This will give your outfit a fun beachy look.
