STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Not the Same Old Sweater

Style Advice of the Week

Happy New Year to all of you out there! I am still on winter break back in my lovely hometown of Chicago. Although I will not be back on campus until later this week, I still had the amazing luck to stumble upon this lovely Fashionista on my way to a friend’s house. From her adorable Super Mario Brothers mushroom print sweater to her laced up boots, I was intrigued from the start. Her style is casual yet so catchy. It definitely is not hard to throw on a sweater and pair of boots and call it an outfit, but this particular Fashionista puts her own twist on these basics.

Currently a sophomore at the University of Illinois, this Fashionista likes to make a playful statement when it comes to dressing casually. She has always preferred to steer clear of the generic look, especially when it comes to her tops. With such cold weather in the Midwest, sweaters are a must. Sweaters are an essential part of the winter look. Besides keeping you warm, this Fashionista thinks printed sweaters provide an endless amount of personality. With all the seriousness of school and the dullness of the winter, she likes to have fun with her wardrobe and take risks. Her advice is to not be afraid to try something new. You never know if that sweater you think looks interesting on the rack will look amazing on you if you don’t try it on first.

These few picks of mine will surely make you to stand out in the crowd. Why not try this cheetah print sweater from Forever 21. It will add a certain feminine, yet edgy vibe to your look. If you want to be a bit more daring, try this mesh sweater from Urban Outfitters. This piece appealed to me because of the intricate design and how it shows just the right amount of skin. I encourage you to ring in the new year with a fresh spin on a classic sweater.
