STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Not Fretting Finals

Style Advice of the Week

It’s that time of year again. Kent State University students are nearing the end of the fall semester. Sure, we’re all very excited for Thanksgiving break, however drumsticks and cranberry sauce will not be dancing through our heads just yet. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be working straight through your time off. When your great aunt Flora asks you why you don’t have a boyfriend, you’ll just grunt, shove a large amount of mashed potatoes in your mouth and review more flashcards at the table. These next few weeks are all work and no play, which I guess makes me a very dull girl.

As we approach finals, a student can see very interesting things. For instance, there is always “that kid” in one of your lectures that is on their MacBook feverishly working on Photoshop to finish the project due at the end of that class. There is what I call a “nomad” who sleeps wherever they see fit, like a bench or the library’s floor. The most interesting things I see however are not the peculiar “Ah! I’m so stressed” behaviors of these students. They are the awesome and creative ensembles.

During this time, the students that I have seen are on top of their style game. They look like movie stars and bloggers who are out and about running errands and still manage to look killer chic.  These are the weeks when they master laid back street style. This week’s Fashonista is no exception. She looked very cool and also warm in her totally functional and unique outfit. The Fashionista wore a pair of lululemon yoga leggings and a fuzzy cotton candy pink coat from Topshop. Her accessories included a multicolored Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, a pair of Nikes, a gray beanie and a classic pair of Ray-Ban reading glasses. She made her extremely casual outfit fabulous by fusing together pieces from all categories of garments.

Take a tip or two from this Fashionista during these next few weeks, fashion enthusiasts. She is probably the most brilliant mathematician I know. After all, she created the formula: Stress + Sleep Deprivation + Sneakers + Coat + Bag = a smiling Fashionista that is ready to take on the day and her homework one fashionable step at a time.
