There are only a few things that can throw me back to my glory days of braces and low ponytails. But maybe that’s because I try to forget them. However, it’s getting harder to escape my private school days as plaid is creeping its way back onto campus. I’m just happy it’s not in the ugly gray, maroon and blue pattern of my school uniform.
This Fashionista uses a plaid shirt to create a great outfit for class. Her plaid flannel shirt is perfectly oversized, which provides a comfy but cute look. Keeping it comfortable, she pairs it with leggings. My favorite part of this look are her riding boots. They are the quintessential piece to pair with a country style plaid flannel like this Fashionista rocks. She ties all of her pieces in with the colors of the plaid shirt. This provides a solid, laid back look for class. Though she sports a neutral colored plaid print, bright plaids can be great for the wintertime too.
The plaid trend isn’t just for loose fitting flannels. A plaid scarf is the perfect way to add a print to a neutral toned outfit. You an also channel your inner private school girl and grab a plaid skater skirt. Pair the skirt with your favorite cropped sweater for the perfect winter night out attire. For a more subtle pop of plaid, throw on ballet flats for class or an internship. They will look great with dark wash skinny jeans or tailored dress pants.
The classic plaid look is a great addition to a wintertime wardrobe. Despite many of our post-traumatic ugly private school uniform feelings about plaid, the print is finally in style! Grab your favorite version of plaid and incorporate it into your wardrobe this season. I’m going to caution any of you from using your old uniform skirt though…we’ll leave that to the grammar schools.
