STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Navy Baby

Black has been and will always be the new black. Recently though, I’ve been having curious feelings about the color navy. Don’t panic, I have not jumped the all black, everything ship, but lately navy has been making its way into my shopping bag. It all started with one navy, American Apparel T-shirt dress, and I was hooked. It wasn’t long before I saw the color being incorporated into more merchandising displays and eventually into more street style looks.

All of the new exposure got me thinking about the blue hue. It really is a classic color. Gap uses it for their logo and Ralph Lauren has remained true to navy blue in all of its branding. Black is usually the go-to. Maybe it’s time that more people consider wearing and using navy blue to stand out?

I was very excited to see this Fashionista wearing navy! It was such a compliment to her tan skin and dark hair. The 3/4-sleeve dress felt casual, yet so well put together all at once. Alongside the navy dress, her gold jewelry stood out. Then, she paired the dress with black leather boots. I must say that she broke the no navy and black rule in the best way possible. I love that even while looking classy, this Fashionista was able to throw in a little street style vibe.

Have you caught the navy blue bug? It is definitely going around. Fear not, adding navy blue to your wardrobe doesn’t mean that you don’t love black. However, it could be a great opportunity to freshen up your fall style and add a bit of class to any outfit.
