STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Namastay in Style

With so many paper deadlines and exams, it can become difficult for college students to keep their zen. With the trend of unique workout classes like SoulCycle, Pure Barre and hot yoga all increasing in popularity, college campuses, like my own are inspired to offer similar fitness classes and give students a great way to relieve their stress, fit some exercise into their hectic schedules and to purchase some cute activewear to wear to workout.

Meet our Fashionista pictured, who was looking fashionable as she was headed to her daily yoga class. This Fashionista’s outfit is on-trend with the whole “athleisure” movement. No longer is activewear simply just for trips to the gym, but it can be worn to class or running errands around campus. The best part of this trend is that it makes workout gear fun, while providing a way for everyone to blend functionality with showcasing their own personal style.

This Fashionista combined a neutral top, jacket and sneakers with patterned leggings. She wore a braid and headband to keep her hair out of her face, while looking put together, and kept some ear jewelry to tie in more of her own style. The neutrality of the other elements of the outfit perfectly balance with the combination of muted colors and patterns on the leggings, keeping them from becoming too overwhelming. Statement leggings are a huge trend in activewear right now. They are a perfect way to add some vibrance to an outfit for your workout and can easily be worn along with a solid tee you already own, to go to your yoga class or go study for your exam.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My leggings aren’t too thick but aren’t too thin, and I like the pattern and mesh at the bottom. Try to wear cropped leggings because long leggings can be confining while doing yoga.”
