STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Move Over Denim, Khaki Has Arrived

Style Advice of the Week

Fashionistas have a multitude of options when it comes to dressing their bottom half. Girls can wear skirts, shorts (with tights), leggings, jeans, many variations and different styles of pants and even dresses if she doesn’t want to worry about picking out both a top and bottom. Fashionistos, on the other hand, are left with pretty limited options. Most men tend to turn to wearing their same comfy jeans day in and day out, and although there are great denim options out there for men (like these Acne jeans or these Levi Brand Jeans), the same old blue denim skinny jean look can get a little boring. That’s why when I saw this Fashionisto rocking khaki colored jeans I had to stop him.

Of course, khakis can often remind one of little school boys, but this Fashionisto’s Levi Brand Jeans version takes khakis to a whole new place. The color is a perfect neutral tone that, like blue denim, you can pretty much pair with everything. This Fashionisto opts for a few different colored layers including a blue-specked V-neck, a beige sweatshirt and a coated black jacket. Even though he’s wearing quite a few different colors, shades and fabrics, the neutral base allows for the top half of his outfit to seamlessly come together.

However, the khaki pant is not limited to guys. There are plenty of well-fitting khakis on the market for women that don’t have to be unflattering or overtly preppy. J.Crew offer more traditional khakis, like these beautifully tailored cropped trousers for the spring. However, if you want something a little different from a traditional khaki you can snatch up these Urban Outfitters high-waisted corduroy pair. Khakis act as a great alternative to jeans when you’ve just had enough of wearing the same denim duds day in and day out.
