STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Moroccan Summer

June 11th, 2015 at 2:10am

The summer heat has finally hit the South. In Athens, people can be seen taking a break to drink something cold in brightly colored mason jars among the numerous downtown cafes. People are starting to bring out their colorful maxi dresses and tank tops. An exciting new trend this summer for clothing is floral and tribal embroidery. Embroidery adds texture and detail to clothes and accessories.

This Fashionista displays this fun trend with colorful embroidered shorts paired with a denim jacket and simple black T-shirt. Her eye-catching embossed brown leather cross-body complements her outfit by bringing in a boho vibe. Similar multicolored striped Southwestern patterned shorts can be found to replicate her embroidered shorts. For a more polished look, try geo embroidered shorts that are inspired by Southwestern designs in a neutral pallet.

The Fashionista’s  boho-chic cross-body bag was incorporated effortlessly in her outfit. Although her cross-body was bought when she visited Morocco, Fashionistas can find a similar faux leather embossed bag. Fashionistas can also opt for a less embellished faux leather cross-body for a more simple addition to their wardrobe. Her denim jacket is an easy item to coordinate for any season. A neutral color T-shirt pairs nicely with bright colors or busy patterns. By wearing coordinating neutrals, the focal point of the outfit becomes the bright tribal embroidered shorts.

The embroidered shorts can be worn on the way to class or a night on the town depending on the other pieces being worn. To bring this outfit from day to night, you can switch the casual T-shirt for a  white halter crop top. Instead of your go-to Converse, slip on cork sole platform wedges.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to go bold this summer with embroidered shorts in a fun pattern and bright colors.”
