STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Monochrome in Madden

Summer holds some pretty hot days, but even hotter nights—when it comes to the look you decide to rock. In the summer, our looks have options: we can mimic the flowers around us and wear bright colors, go neutral for that natural earthy aesthetic or always resort to the chic classics of all black everything. Black is a color that everyone looks great in and does not have any seasonal restrictions like wearing white pants after Labor Day. Fashion icons, like Kim Kardashian West, are reminding us that a seemingly colorless wardrobe is key. Monochromatic fashion is timeless and effortless. More often than not, wearing one hue at a time can make more of a statement than combining colors. An all-black outfit is too fierce to be forgotten.

Fashionistas are finally starting to embrace their curves and there’s no better way to do that than with a pair of high-waisted jeans. The higher the waistline, the more elongated you look, and high waistlines call for high heels! High-waisted pants with flats can often lead to looking a little frumpy, so never forget to add a little length to those legs of yours with a few inches on your feet.

Spotted right before the sun set down in Philadelphia, this Fashionista was caught wearing an ever-flattering pair of black high-waisted jeans, a classic button-up collared shirt and a killer pair of Steve Madden heeled sandals. Her bold red lip that compliments the red heel of her sandals transforms this look flawlessly. But the way she paired these gold accessories in with her black-on-black attire is what really made me fall in love. Accessories should never be forgotten because they have the opportunity to turn a boring outfit into a really good time, as this chained necklace accents all the other gold features she’s wearing. Michael Kors did say, “I’ve always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit.”

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Never use your body weight as an excuse to not wear something you want to, and if you do nothing else: don’t ever leave the house without lipstick or eyebrows.”
