I love a good monochromatic look. A head to toe color palette can either symbolize a powerfully chic woman, or a little too much pink. Whenever you are putting together a monochromatic look, I always like to stick to the neutrals, with a pop of color in the accessories. Monochromatic looks have been dominating the runways for the spring/summer 2014 runways and are making their way to our closets.
I love this Fashionista’s creamy ensemble. While white has been a trending color for this type of look, a subtle cream is a softer hue to play with this season. This cream is also a perfect color to mix with this Fashionista’s leather details and less harsh than dark pieces. While it may be hard to keep a monochromatic look balanced when you’re dealing with cream and white, pairing it with soft leather tones is a perfect way to keep the look in theme. Shoes and bags are great places to highlight these accents in this Fashionista’s look. A flirty, feminine dress like this Fashionista is a great way to start off playing around with an all one color look.
So how do you work this trend? So many of us shy away from all white, but this monochromatic look is easy to incorporate into any look and in almost any hue. Don’t be afraid to throw a pop of color into this type of look. While an all black ensemble may look strong and chic, pairing it with a red pump takes the look to a whole new glamorous level. A printed scarf or a chunky necklace can break up a one-color look for those just easing into the trend. Start off by trying this look in the neutral family— navy, black, grey and even olive green! A monochromatic look is also fitting for day to night. A blazer and dress for the office is perfect for the day, but slip off the jacket and add a matching lip and you’re reading for the night! Once you find your niche in styling this monochromatic look, don’t be shy in playing it up in an all coral look or even chartreuse. It’s supposed to be fun-so roll with it!
