“On Wednesdays we wear black.”
Although the epic conclusion of our much-loved miniseries is now in the past, I love to rock the all-black look on any day of the week. In fact, I completely swear by it. When given the choice between black and some other color, nine times out of 10, I will always choose black. I can’t help it! It’s the most understated power color of our generation. Its universal simplicity and ability to match with everything is an age-old tip that any Fashionista or Fashionisto can adopt into her or his wardrobe with ease.
And this Fashionista exemplifies how utterly easy this suggestion is in comfort and style. She cites the styles in indie films as her biggest influence on her ’90s grunge-inspired style. While on her way to the studio, this Fashionista embodies the ’90s perfectly in her comfortable and effortless black and gray matching ensemble. She accentuates her black leggings and tank top with more interesting touches of her mid-calf, lace-up combat boots, gray cardigan and cute animal-printed backpack. She tops off her outfit with the warmth and practicality of a basic black beanie. Beanies are very current and a cute touch for the cooler months. They are not only cute, but also functional.
A basic pair of leggings is a staple to any wardrobe; they’re comfortable and an easy addition to any outfit when you’re running off to class or to the library to study. Try finding a pair with unique details to have on standby to instantly bring an interesting look to your outfit, such as this paneled pair, tie-dye pair or this pair with mesh-inserts if you’re feeling especially daring. And, the best part about leggings is they can easily be dressed up or down. Wear them with cute black heels to dress them up or with boots to dress them down. Boots are possibly my favorite part about fall and winter, and having a cute go-to pair like the combat boots worn here, or a cute belted pair like these, upgrade any outfit in no time.
