STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Monochromatic

One style trap that many people fall into is the belief that in order for your outfit to be interesting, you have to incorporate some kind of color or print. While I am not here to advocate against colors or prints, I am here to let you know that wearing just one color can also make a pretty bold statement. Not only that, but going monochromatic can actually be very flattering while also being super-chic. This is fantastic news, especially for those days when you feel as though you literally have nothing to wear. An all-black ensemble is a great go-to when you need to look pulled together and polished but don’t have the time or energy to create a more elaborate outfit. If wearing all-black is a little too daunting you can always throw in a pop of color in the form of a bold scarf or shoe for maximum impact.

So how do you tackle this look while not looking boring? The answer is to follow this Fashionista’s lead and play with different textures and fabrics. This all-black look features several different textures that give her outfit depth and visual interest. For example, she layered a crocodile embossed leather jacket over a long sleeve shirt with a black mesh illusion neckline. To continue the theme, she went with a black leather Coach bag, as well as some black leather biker-inspired booties, to complete this edgy look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “You can never go wrong with all-black. Even if you don’t always feel like dressing up, black is the go-to color.”
