STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Modern Day Hippie

The wait is over. With spring in full bloom, days getting longer, school winding down, festival season around the corner and warmer weather finally upon us, the time has come to change our wardrobes. For this warm season a bohemian look is the way to go. Heavily inspired by the late 1960s and early 1970s hippie movement, the bohemian look offers a summery look with a carefree vibe for all occasions. Just ditch that knitwear and replace it with some fringe accents, bell-bottoms, layered necklaces, big round sunglasses, flared arm tops, lots of denim, your peace signs and head out that door.

I found this bohemian babe strutting campus like it was still 1969 and she was headed to Woodstock. She’s truly made this look into her own, making it simple but choosing accessories that add to this “bohemian vibe.” She is wearing a white off-the-shoulder flared arm top, her favorite pair of jean shorts and fringe booties. Then she simply added a couple necklaces and John Lennon inspired round metal sunglasses to fully encompass the look.

Flexibility in our wardrobe is key in our day to day college life, so what is nice about this “bohemian” look is that the style is SO flexible. You can dress this style with something as simple as a white tank and bell-bottoms or as complex as multiple layers, a fringe vest and lots of jewelry. As this Fashionista exhibited, this look can be molded to your day and if it’s not for you, but you like a certain aspect of it, you can easily make it an addition to your own style.

So fill your warmer days with some peace, love and good vibes and dress like a bohemian babe this spring and summer!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Nothing beats wearing my bell bottoms, a fringe vest or my John Lennon round sunglasses. Its such an easy-going look and I love the feeling that I’m going back in time with my outfit. It honestly gives me a sense of confidence that I just can’t explain. It’s awesome.”
