STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Mixing Business With Pleasure

So, it’s just one of those days where you absolutely must get out of the house and and engage in human interaction because, well, summer is nearly coming to a close and we must take advantage of every night off we get. Of course, when it comes to getting all done up from head to toe, let’s just say it can be a struggle. What’s a Fashionista/o to do when in dire need of needing to look presentable when in reality she/he really just wants to stay in her lounge-wear? This is the part where you mix business with pleasure within your outfit.

This Fashionista successfully exhibited this trend in a number of ways. Comfort is key in any outfit meaning you can never go wrong with a good worn-in pair of Converse. To counteract the informality of the chucks, she added a snake skin pencil skirt. Any pencil skirt is perfect to steer your outfit into a more formal direction. By adding a light jacket over top with leather accents, your look is kept edgy and intriguing.

When curating a casual yet put together outfit, it helps to keep your ensemble relatively monochromatic. This way there is not merely one statement piece that defines your look, but rather the entire outfit as a whole speaks to those who notice your adept ability to combine two different styles into one look. This Fashionista mixed various shades of black and white. In doing so, she added a jet black cross-body purse which steered onto the more formal side of the outfit but fit right in with the monochromatic feel.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My personal style advice is to always keep it casual and comfortable. If you’re not comfortable in what your wearing, people will notice. I could of paired this look with a pair of stilettos but then I would have looked like Bambi learning how to walk. Your always better off feeling and looking effortless.”
