STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Mix it and Match it

It’s officially the best time of year! Summer! The sun is finally out and endless beach days have arrived. I love this time of year and all the fashion that comes along with it. From sundresses to rompers and my favorite bikini, summer is a great time to pull out your favorite pieces.

One thing that I find challenging as a college student is having the right clothing for each season. Because I’m on a college budget, having pieces that can work all year round is much easier and affordable for me. When I saw this Fashionista’s look, it reminded me of this. She took pieces from her wardrobe she had worn in previous seasons and used them in new ways, allowing her to continue to wear them in the hotter weather.

First she started of with a basic black cotton dress. This is perfect for summer because it is lightweight and easy to wear. But, in the winter you can add a pair of leggings and a leather jacket to work with the cold weather. The next part of this Fashionista’s outfit was her calf-length boots. Most people only think you can wear boots in the wintertime, but this Fashionista did things differently. By pairing her boots with the summer dress, it gives her look a balance that makes it really cool and chic.

Next she added on a few accessories to finish out her look. She put on an army green hat that adds another hint of edge to her outfit. Her final touch was a brown fringe shoulder bag, which pulls the entire outfit together. I love how she really played with mixing simple pieces to make a really unique outfit. It’s the perfect way to make your wardrobe last all year long.
